TETFund’s support has been pivotal — not just as a source of funding, but as a visionary force enabling new models of learning, research, and storytelling. Through its National Research Fund (NRF), TETFund empowered a team of forward-thinking academics to explore how technology can be used to bridge the widening gap between Nigeria’s rich cultural history and its digital future.
The TETFund-sponsored DigiCulture Project, which was launched under the National Research Fund (NRF) 2023 cycle, is doing just that in Ogun State. This is active preservation, where digital tools such as AI, mobile platforms, and virtual storytelling are being used to translate cultural experiences into interactive formats.
For young people immersed in digital spaces, this creates a compelling new way to connect with their roots—through apps, videos, social content, and immersive platforms. Unlike traditional academic approaches, DigiCulture breaks down silos between disciplines. It blends the humanities, digital communication, sociology, and computer science, creating a collaborative model where cultural preservation becomes an open canvas for innovation.
With TETFund’s backing, the DigiCulture Project has become more than an academic exploration. Young people working on the project aren’t just researchers—they're designers of cultural experiences, learning how to package indigenous knowledge into forms that are relevant, shareable, and scalable. It’s an incubator for cultural innovation.
